So far, Maruti Suzuki has managed to sell over 5 lakh cars with CNG kits in India. This includes a total of 7 car models – Alto 900, Alto K10, WagonR, Celerio, Dzire, Eeco & Super Carry. Maruti Suzuki first introduced factory fit CNG kits in 2010. This i-GPI CNG technology was an instant hit, especially among fleet car operators, who trust Maruti Suzuki.
The brand reveals that the WagonR is the highest selling CNG model in the portfolio. And no doubt about this, given the number of CNG WagonR cabs we see working under the Ola and Uber wing. CNG car sales contribute around 15% of total sales for Maruti Suzuki during April-November 2018.
Maruti Suzuki made CNG powered cars available to an added 26 cities in 2018-19. Now, these cars are sold in a total of 150 cities across the country. The primary reason for this phased launch being the demand and availability of CNG in the respective city.
Maruti Suzuki claims that these factory fit CNG kits are more safer. Also, there is no issues with the warranty compared to cars which get a CNG kit retro-fitted. Maruti Suzuki also services the CNG kit under their standard service, which is an added advantage.
