Ola could be planning to bring a three-wheeled electric vehicle for the Indian market. Patents of the electric three-wheeler have emerged on the internet which offer us a peek at whats in for the future. The brand has not yet announced the launch of the electric three-wheelers. Yes, there are going to be two main iterations of the three-wheeled EV – a passenger version which we assume is likely to become a taxi cab and another with an open loading bed. Sources also report that the electric three-wheeler from OLA is likely to be called “Raahi”.
Ola Electric Three-Wheelers
According to the leaked patents, the Raahi electric three-wheeler is likely to come with an aerodynamic front integrating square headlamps, and a sloping windshield. The driver door is also likley to be triangular and the rear wheels are likely to be outside the main body to improve the cabin space. The ORVMs on the electric three-wheeler are likely to be mounted on the A-pillar. The cargo version is also likely to come with a sizeable loading bay with rear as well as side loading doors. However, the cabin of both the three-wheelers is likely to be shared.
Raahi – Price and Competitions
The electric three-wheeler is likely to compete with the Mahindra Treo, Piaggio Ape e-city and Bajaj RE in the Indian market. The three-wheeler EV is likely to come with a price between the INR 2 lakh and INR 3.5 lakh which has much of its competitors. But depending on the features, the price may be higher. The battery and powertrain specification of the Raahi is still unknown and expect the three-wheeler to come with a range of around 150 km on a single charge. The three-wheeler is also likely to have a charging time of around 6-8 hours.
