Jaguar Land Rover has announced that the Wait List for the new Range Rover Electric are now open. This means that patrons can now pre-order the Range Rover Electric. The Range Rover Electric is an all-electric model of the highly successful Range Rover luxury SUV.
Range Rover Electric – Go-Anywhere All-Electric
While the brand has not yet fully revealed the Range Rover Electric, the luxury SUV is likely to use the ICE counterpart as its base. Even in its all-electric avatar, the Range Rover Electric will still retain its Go-Anywhere capabilities. This means that the Range Rover electric will be able to go off-road, wade through water and possess all-terrain capabilities just like the ICE vehicle. The SUV will also come with an 800V electric architecture enabling fast charging capabilities.
In addition to this, Land Rover also claims that the performance of the Range Rover Electric is comparable to the flagship Range Rover V8. Its world-famous all-terrain which sets benchmarks since its introduction in the year 1970 continue on the Range Rover Electric.
Range Rover Electric – Prototype Testing
The Range Rover Electric is currently undergoing physical prototype testing. The brand reveals that the first physical vehicles have been built and global physical testing is underway. JLR will be testing the Range Rover Electric on different terrains from Sweden to Dubai. The temperature variation alone would be from -40 degrees Celsius to +50 degrees Celsius. The testing will ensure the EVs battery, powertrain and chassis robustness.
The brand has already revealed that the Range Rover Electric can wade through water with a speed of unto 50 kmph and a depth of 850mm. The testing will also allow engineers to create the most refined Range Rover. The luxury electric SUV will also come with a unique active road noise cancellation configuration, reveals JLR.
Range Rover Electric – Manufacturing
Land Rover will design and engineer the new Range Rover Electric in the UK. The brand is using the MLA (Modular Longitudinal Architecture) and the manufacturing will take place alongside the existing mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid Range Rover vehicles in Solihull. In addition to this, the brand reveals that the batteries and EDUs will be built at the company’s new Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton.
