October 2020 Indian Car & Bike Sales Report

The sales reports for the month of October are in and here is an OEM wise glimpse of how each manufacturer prospered in terms of sales for the month of October 2020.

Kia Motors India has recorded the highest-ever domestic sales since its entry into the Indian market with 21,021 units sold in October 2020. The new record has been set thanks to the brand’s new bestseller in the segment the Kia Sonet which garnered sales of 11,721 in the last month. With the arrival of the festive season the Kia Seltos SUV too posted uniform growth with sales of 8,900 units. With the robust sales performance Kia Motors celebrates the sales of more than 1.5 lakhs Kia vehicles on Indian roads, maintaining the brand’s position as the fourth largest manufacturer in the country. 

Hyundai Motor India Limited posted the brand’s highest ever domestic sales of 56,605 Units and exports of 12,230 units with cumulative sales of 68 835 Units for the month of October 2020. As compared to the same month last year Hyundai posted sales of 50,010 units showing a growth of 13.2% in domestic sales but the exports were slightly hampered and saw a negative of 10.1% in the month of October 2020 as compared to 2019. The company shows a cumulative growth of 8.2%. 

 

Maruti Suzuki has recorded sales of 182,448 units in October 2020 showing a growth of 18.9% over the same period of previous year. The total sales include domestic sales of 166,825 units and 6,037 units for other OEMs. The company also mentioned that it exported 9,586 units in October 2020. 

MG Motor India has registered the brand’s highest-ever monthly sales for the much popular SUV the MG Hector with sales for the month standing at 3,625 units in October 2020, registering a growth of 50% against 2,410 units sold in September 2020. The brand’s fully-electric vehicle the MG ZS EV also garnered sales of 125 units in October 2020. The brand also announced that it had received 2000 bookings for the latest Premium SUV the MG Gloster, in its first phase.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors has sold a total of 12,373 units in the month of October 2020, showing a growth of growth of 52%. In the month of September 2020 TKM sold sold 8116 units. Compared to the sales in October 2019, TKM had sold a total of 11,866 units in the domestic market. 

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has registered the domestic sales of 10,836 units in October 2020 against 10,010 units in corresponding month last year, registering a growth of 8.3%. Honda has also exported a total of 84 units in October 2020. In September 2020 Honda recorded sales of 10,199 units. The brand expects to gain more sales during the festive season. 

Tata Motors Limited posted sales of 52,132 vehicles in the month of October 2020 for the domestic and internation market, compared to 41,354 units during the same period last year. In the Domestic market the brand recorded sales of 49,669 units in October 2020, while total Commercial vehicles domestic and export stands at 28,472 unit and total passenger vehicles stand at 23,617 units for the month of October 2020. 

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India LTD has posted sales of 527,180 units in the month of October 2020 showing a 2% growth over 517,845 units sold in October 2019. Honda has clocked the sales of 494,459 units in October 2020 compared to the 487,819 units sold in the same month last year. Honda registered 9% growth in exports with 32,721 units in October 2020 as compared to 30,026 units in October 2019.

Yamaha Motor India has recorded sales of 60,176 units in the month of October 2020 compared to 46,082 units in October 2019, showing a growth of 31%. The brand expects to to beat preceding months with festive season sales during November. The brand has also announced that it will also be offering attractive finance schemes for its new 125cc scooters in select markets during the festive season. 

Suzuki Motorcycle India has registered 76,865 unit sales in October 2020, breaking last years record for the festive season showing a 3% growth in October 2020 as compared to the same period in the last month. The brand has also announced that it sold 67,225 units in domestic market and exported 9,640 units in October 2020. The exports also saw an increase of almost 15% as compared to October 2019.

TVS Motors registered a sales of 394,724 units in October 2020 as against 323,368 units in the month of October 2019. The total two-wheeler sales shows a growth of 382,121 units in October 2020, as compared to 308,161 units sold in the last month. The brand’s total exports also registered 92,520 units sales in the month of October 2020 as against 69,339 units in October 2019, showing 33% growth. The three-wheeler arm also registered sales of 12,603 units in October 2020 as against 15,207 units in October 2019. 

Bajaj Auto has recorded a total two-wheeler domestic sales of 4,70,290 units as compared to 3,98,913 sales registered in the same period last year, with 18%. The brand has also revealed that the Pulsar brand has recorded sales of over 170,000 units. The total sales of two-wheeler and commercial vehicles stands at 5,12,038 unit for the month of October 2020, showing 11% growth over the sales to 4,63,208 units in the same period last year. 

Hero MotoCorp has yet again emerged as the market leader with the record sales of 806,848 units of motorcycles and scooters in October 2020. This is the brand’s highest-ever sales in any single month. In the previous year for the same month Hero MotoCorp sold 599,248 units showing a growth of 35%.
