No signs of Honda PCX 150 for India, new model revealed

Honda had showcased the PCX scooter to the Indian audience almost half a decade back. At the 2018 Auto Expo, the Japanese manufacturer again had the PCX on display, but in an electric powertrain variant. However, there are still no signs of this premium scooter coming to India. Seems like the high pricing which the PCX will demand is keeping Honda away from testing waters. But lets hope, that after the launch of the Suzuki Burgman Street, Honda does pull out this trump card.

In markets abroad, Honda has now revealed a new PCX 150 scooter. While the overall proportions remain similar, the 2018 PCX 150 comes with LED headlamps, LED turn indicators, full digital instrument console, revamped body panels, and different exhaust.

Powering the new 2018 PCX 150 is a 149cc, single-cylinder motor producing 13.3 HP of power and 14 Nm of torque. This is marginally more compared to the older variant, even after the engine capacity has gone down by 4cc; thanks to a larger airbox addition. The PCX 150 now rides on a duplex cradle chassis, unlike the tubular frame from the older model.

The scooter also gets new rear suspension springs, increased suspension travel, wider tyres and dual channel ABS is offered as an option. The 2018 PCX 150 is lighter by 2.8 kg compared to the outgoing model.

Currently, the Honda Grazia is the flagship scooter for the brand. If this scooter goes on sale, it could ask for nearly 1 lakh rupees, on-road. Which isn’t bad considering the way it looks and what it offers. Piaggio is already successfully selling the Vespa at that price tag. Would you buy the PCX 150 if it was on sale in India?
