There’s some positive news for the residents of New Delhi. As per a recent draft policy, having a valid pollution-under-check certificate will soon become mandatory for refuelling. This is a great move to keep the pollution levels of the vehicles under check. Northern India has always suffered from bad air quality, especially in the winters. The city government has taken some serious steps to encounter this problem. And this new policy is one such step to help control the rising pollution level in the city. A draft policy will soon be put in the public domain for further suggestions and invitations.
More Details Of The Draft Policy
Once enacted, vehicles will have to carry a valid PUC certificate to the fuel station. And the vehicles found with invalid certificates will have to issue one from the fuel station. The entire tech involved and effective implementation of this policy is still in the planning stage. The policy will ensure that there are no long queues for the checking of PUC certificates and facilitate a seamless experience. There are chances that technology like radio-frequency identification systems will make their way for the implementation, same as the one we see in FasTags.
Delhi Government Push For Electric Vehicles
Back in August 2020, Delhi Government had introduced its EV policy. Under this, the long term aim is to encourage more EV sales in the city. By 2024, the city has set a target to achieve a market share of 25 per cent for electric vehicles. A host of automotive companies have started introducing their electric vehicles. More importantly, customers are also quite open to making a shift to the EV segment. This is true, as most of the EV makers are witnessing growth in their sales figures. Currently, the two-wheeler sector is witnessing maximum growth. But slowly, the four-wheeler segment is also picking up pace. With more companies planning to launch their EV offerings this year, the growth will increase even further.
