Nissan Magnite bags 15,000 bookings, promises lowest cost of ownership

Nissan at the beginning of December launched the much-awaited Magnite compact SUV in the Indian market at an introductory price of INR 4.99 lakh ex-showroom. At the introductory price, the Magnite undercuts other OEMs by more than INR 100,000 across the segment. Now, in less than 20 days from the launch, the new compact SUV has garnered more than 15,000 bookings and the waiting period for the car has been extended to up to three months for certain variants. 

The brand also claims that the Magnite comes with a lowest-in-class maintenance cost at just 29 paise/km (for 50,000 km). The brand is also offering a 5 years/100,000 km extended warranty on top of the 2 years/50,000 km standard warranty at a nominal price. The Nissan Magnite is also offered with multiple labour-free services available at all service networks across India. Furthermore, a prepaid maintenance plan called ‘Nissan Magnite Care’ has been introduced that saves up to 22% on maintenance costs.

The plan is available in Gold and Silver packages and applicable for two to five years. The Silver package covers basic maintenance service and the Gold package provides comprehensive periodic maintenance service. The maintenance package is also transferable, which means the new owner will also be able to enjoy the benefits of the maintenance plans adding to the residual value of the vehicle.

The Nissan Magnite has received more than 5,000 bookings within 5 days of its launch. The Magnite has also received more than 1,50,000 enquiries since its launch. Close to 40% bookings on the compact crossover attribute to the digital sales channel and 60% booking consist of the top two trims. The Nissan Magnite is offered in four variants – XE, XL, XV and XV Premium. The prices start at INR 4.99 lakh and go up to INR 9.35 lakh ex-showroom. The introductory offer is valid only till the 31st of December 2020 and starting January 2021 the prices on the model will be hiked. 

The Nissan Magnite is available with two engine options both matching BS6 emission regulations. The car is powered by a B4D 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder dual VVT petrol motor that makes 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. The naturally-aspirated petrol engine delivers a fuel efficiency figure of 18.75 kmpl. The second option is an HRA0 1.0-litre three-cylinder Turbo-Petrol engine that churns out 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque on the 5-speed manual gearbox and 152 Nm of torque on the optional X-TRONIC CVT automatic gearbox. The turbo-petrol engine in the manual transmission returns an efficiency of 20 kmpl and 17.7 kmpl on the CVT automatic gearbox. 

The Nissan Magnite is offered with a plethora of safety features as well as comfort and convenience features. The car is offered in four dual tone colours – Flare Garnet Red and Onyx Black, Vivid Blue and Storm White, Tourmaline Brown and Onyx Black, Pearl White and Onyx Black. Also, four monotone colours – Sandstone Brown, Onyx Black, Blade Silver and Storm White.
