Nissan has confirmed an all-new compact-SUV for the Indian market. This sub-4 metre product will be launched in 2020 and will be Made-in-India and exported globally. This would be the first compact-SUV from Nissan here in India and will rival the likes of Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonnet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport.
Nissan claims that this all-new SUV will be filled with new tech features and will also be a stylish offering. Well, it has to be to attract the new buyer set. The teaser image hints at a dual tone paint scheme, floating roof design, chrome accents around the DLO area, flared wheel arches, sharkfin antenna, wrap around LED tail lamps, LED DRLs, sleek LED headlamps, high mount sculpted bonnet, roof rails along with blacked out A & B pillar. Nissan could reveal this compact-SUV in concept guise at the 2020 Auto Expo scheduled next month, with a market debut later this year. Features inside would surely include automatic climate control, sunroof, connected technology, touchscreen infotainment, driver armrest, steering mounted controls, digital speedometer cluster and more.
When launched, this sub-4 metre compact-SUV from Nissan could be positioned between INR 7 – 11 lakh, if at all both petrol and diesel engines are on offer. Hopefully, the brand will also offer automatic gearbox options right from the day of launch.
At the moment, the Nissan SUV range includes the Kicks and the Terrano. However, both the existing models are more than 4 metres in length. The styling looks a tad bit similar to the Nissan Kicks, but it is good to see Nissan willing to enter the high volumes segment as the brand has been finding it tough to get more footfall in showrooms. Nissan is yet to announce their BS6 product portfolio for India, so the fate of the Terrano and Kicks is unknown as both these models aren’t really doing great in the sales department.
