Next-Generation Skoda Octavia in 2020

Skoda is gearing up to launch the the all-new fourth-generation Octavia in India by next year. The Skoda Octavia is expected to make its global debut in 2020 and it is speculated that in a few months from it’s European launch, Skoda will make the Octavia available in the Indian market replacing the third-generation Octavia that is currently being sold here.

The exterior of the car features a newly redesigned front and rear, the car is expected to feature sleek Matrix LED headlights on top-spec variants and the taillights are also expected to be in a sharp ‘L’ shaped LED with 3D elements. The Skoda logo is expected to be printed in block letters and placed in between the tail lights on the boot lid. The rear bumper is expected to integrate the exhaust finishers in chrome elements and the boot-lid on top-end variants is likely to get a lip spoiler. The car is also expected to feature dynamic turn signal lamps.

On the interior, the all-new Skoda Octavia is expected to feature a third-generation MIB3 (Modular Infotainment Matrix 3) with a 9.2-inch screen and built-in connectivity features ready with an e-SIM and LTE connection. The interiors of the car will be designed to maximize interior and storage space and are likely to keep a minimalist theme. The interiors are also expected to be finished in leather upholstery and twin tone dashboard trim and more. 

The all-new Octavia is expected to be powered by – two petrol engine options and two diesel engine options in the international markets.

Petrol

  • 1.0-litre TSI petrol
  • 1.5-litre TSI petrol

Diesel

  • 1.6-litre TDI diesel
  • 2.0-litre TDI diesel

For the Indian market, the 2020 Octavia is expected to come with the 1.5-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines with a 48V mild-hybrid technology. The international models are expected to get a plug-in hybrid variant as well. The next-generation Skoda Octavia is expected to be built on the Volkswagen’s updated MQB platform and the exterior dimensions of the car are likely to be bigger as compared to the current model which measures at 4670mm in length, 1814mm in width and 1476mm in height.

The 2020 Skoda Octavia when launched will rival the likes of the Hyundai Elantra, Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla Altis which could be soon discontinued.
