The next-generation Ford Figo, expected to launch by mid-2015 has commenced road tests in India. This new model will replace the current Figo model on sale and was spotted testing near Pune.
The new Figo will be built at Ford’s new Sanand facility in Gujarat. This new facility will be operational next year.
The car will be built on the same platform which will also be used in the Figo sedan. Powering the hatchback could be a 1.2L petrol motor and a 1.5L diesel motor. There is a possibility of the 1.0L Ecoboost engine making its way in the Figo, without a turbocharger though.
Exterior profile of the new Figo is significantly taller than the current car hinting towards more room inside the cabin. Design is rather conventional and should offend none. From the spyshots we can see that the car will get a rear wash & wipe, rear defogger, number plate on the bumper, Ford logo on the bootlid, short spoiler like mount for the stop lamp above the rear windscreen. The car also have blackened B pillars and pull type door handles.
Apart from the Figo hatchback and Figo sedan, Ford could also launch the next-generation Endeavour next year.
