The next-generation Audi A6 45 TFSI has been spied in India, which is likely to be slated for launch in December 2019. The test mule was spotted near Pune, Maharashtra sans camouflage with a 45 TFSI badging which leads us to believe that the model is likely to be launched with a new 2.0-litre petrol engine. Audi is also expected to upgrade the existing 2.0-litre TDI engine to BSVI standards when the next-gen A6 launches in December.
In terms of styling, the new Audi A6 will line-up with its elder A8 sedan and is reported to be 7mm longer, 12mm wider as well as 2mm taller than the current A6 which measures in at 4932mm in length, 1874mm in width and 1455mm in height. The wheelbase is also reported to be 12mm longer than the existing car which has a wheelbase of 2912mm. With new improved larger dimensions, the new Audi A6 will become roomier on the inside and better compete with rivals.
On the interior, the next-generation A6 is likely to borrow some equipment from the brand’s flagship sedan, the Audi A8, such as twin 8.6-inch touchscreens as standard. The international-spec car will get autonomous driving features and an optional 10.1-inch upper touchscreen display.
The new engine that is likely to introduced is the 2.0-litre TFSI petrol motor producing 245 HP of power and 370 Nm of torque. Currently, the Audi A6 comes with a 1.8-litre TFSI petrol engine which produces 190 HP of power and 320 Nm of torque paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Another 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine producing 190 HP of power and 400 Nm of torque. This diesel engine is likely to be upgraded to BSVI standards as it does duty on a number of other cars such as the Audi A4, Skoda Octavia and the Kodiaq. In the case of the new A6, it is likely to come with this engine in the diesel guise but in the international market, Audi has a 204 HP, Euro6 compliant version of this motor.
The prices for the new model car will be slightly higher than the current model which is priced at INR 50.01 lakh ex-showroom for the Audi A6 35 TFSI Technology whereas the A6 35 TDI is priced at INR 51.01 lakh ex-showroom.
