Mahindra launched the new Scorpio which is based on an all-new, 3rd generation ladder on frame chassis. The company has revealed that going forward, other Mahindra products such as the new versions of the Bolero, Xylo and Quanto will also be underpinned by this new chassis which is almost 6 kg lighter and twice as stiffer with new suspension setup.
Features of the new chassis:
- Better crash reinforcement
- Hydro-formed crush tip
- Geometry control with post piercing process
- Increased front wheel track
- Increased torsional stiffness
- New rear drive banjo axle which is 6 kg lighter
Apart from the above mentioned points, a lot more has changed and Mahindra want’s to change the perception of how their cars drive with this new setup. We have driven the new Scorpio and the driving dynamics are much improved compared to the previous generation. Hence, the upcoming Mahindra products will also benefit in the handling department with the introduction of this new chassis.
