QJMotor launched its first inline-four-cylinder model, the 600RR, in the Chinese market less than two years ago. However, the company is already giving it quite an overhaul for the 2022 model year. The QJMotor 600RR uses the same underpinnings as the Benelli TNT600i. Although, the former offers full-fairing and much sportier ergonomics.
The second-generation 600RR gets all-new styling, yet it looks oddly similar. The front end of the motorcycle looks similar to the Ducati Panigale. Although, the windscreen and the ram air intake design look like it draws inspiration from the BMW S1000RR. Moving on, the side of the motorcycle has hints of Honda’s CBR650R. At the back, the 600RR features typical modern-era supersport bike styling. This means it gets a short and high tail section. The new 2022 model 600RR’s tail is 50 mm higher than the old version. Overall, the QJMotor has a lot of design trends that are borrowed from other established motorcycles.
The advantage of the new bodywork is reduced weight. The new 2022 600RR weighs 2 kg less than before. However, at 213 kg, it is still heavier than, say, a Honda CBR650R. The update also brings in a 1.6-litre larger tank, taking the total fuel tank capacity to 18-litre. The seat height, at 800 mm, is now more accessible than before. The older model had a 10 mm taller seat height.
The 2022 600RR also gets full LED lighting as standard. The model also sees the inclusion of winglets at the front of the bike. QJMotor claims they provide 5 to 6 kg of additional downforce at 150 kmph. Thus, improving the stability of the bike at higher speeds.
The 600RR continues to use a 600cc inline-four engine. However, QJMotor has updated it slightly for 2022. The engine sees a 5 per cent reduction in internal engine friction. Additionally, there is a newly redesigned exhaust system which reduces back pressure. These changes result in an increase in power and torque. The 2022 600RR now makes 87.2 HP at 11,500 rpm, up from 81 HP. At the same time, the motor now makes 56 Nm at 10,500 rpm, which is up from the last model’s 52 Nm.
The suspension setup consists of a non-adjustable KYB upside-down fork and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. As for the braking hardware, it gets Brembo 4-piston radially mounted callipers at the front. Additionally, it also gets a radial master cylinder. At the rear, it gets a single two-piston calliper. Dual-channel ABS is standard. The 600RR also gets traction control, an up-only quickshifter and riding modes. The QJMotor 600RR displays the traction control levels and rider modes on a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster.
QJMotor is Benelli’s parent company, and hence it is likely that the 2022 600RR could also get a Benelli version. There have already been teasers about a new Benelli. This new bike will go by the name of Tornado 650R. Hence, it may be based on the 600RR with a displacement bump.
In India, Benelli had the TNT600i. The model was quite popular in India and also sold in good numbers. The reason for this was the model’s affordability and the inline-four engine. Benelli discontinued the model after the implementation of the BS6 emission norms. If Benelli brings the new Tornado to India and prices it right, it will most likely find a lot of takers in India.
