Mercedes-Benz could be planning to launch the new-generation E-Class LWB in the Indian market. Spyshots of the long wheelbase Mercedes-Benz E-Class have been spotted leading us to believe that the company plans to launch the new new car to compete with the recently revealed BMW 5-Series LWB. The spied business sedan is likely to have come to India via the CBU route, however, the German brand is likely to locally produce the new E-Class LWB to keep the prices competitive.

But, Mercedes-Benz India has not yet announced the launch dates or the pricing of the upcoming E-Class. It is also important to note, that the brand already retails the E-Class in India, in its Long Wheel Base form. This means it will be easier for the brand to retain its E-Class customers and convert them into purchasing the new-generation model.

According to sources, the 6th generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB is likely to be the same as the one sold in the Chinese market. The brand internationally revealed the LWB E-Class in the Chinese market last year. While the overall silhouette appears the same Mercedes-Benz is likely to offer the India-specific model with a few differentiating factors.

Spyshots

The spied images reveal that the new E-Class LWB has arrived in Silver, Black and White colour options. However, there could be more units of the car around the Chakan production facility. In terms of size, the new-generation E-Class LWB has a 15mm longer wheelbase than the current E-Class LWB sold in India. Also the car will be 133mm longer that the standard model. It’s length is also also likely to be more than 5 metres.

Competition

Upon launch the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB will compete with the BMW 5-Series LWB, Audi A6, Jaguar XF and Volvo S90 in the Indian market.
