Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Thar hits big in terms of sales figures. The SUV launched back in October 2020 has become a customer favourite since day 1. This is pretty much evident from its recent production milestone. The off-roader has achieved an incredible production milestone of 1 lakh units. This figure has come up in less than 2.5 years. Mahindra Thar is now available in both the 4×4 and RWD variants, making it even more exciting. Along with this, customers can also opt for a hard top or a soft top.

Thar Was An Instant Hit

The initial impressions of the Thar were pretty good. It had racked up over 15,000 bookings within a few weeks of its launch. In fact, it had managed to get 75,000 bookings in just the first 12 months of its launch. Now, the SUV is in much demand and has a waiting period of up to four months for both petrol and diesel variants.

This significant milestone of 100,000 units of the Mahindra Thar resonates perfectly with Mahindra’s new identity. It is an SUV that had a strong reputation and fan following. And with the new model, Mahindra continued its legacy and captured the imagination and hearts of the new-gen customers.

Mahindra Thar Mechanical Highlights

Based on a ladder frame chassis, the Thar comes is available in one petrol and two diesel engines. The petrol engine is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit. This motor makes 150 BHP and 300Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. On the other hand, we have diesel options in form of, 1.5-litre and 2.2-litre units.
