New Mahindra Scorpio SUV could get panoramic sunroof

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Spotting a 2022 Mahindra Scorpio in camouflage has been quite common now. We know that the car has been in development for the past 3 years. Mahindra seems to test the SUV at extreme conditions as we have seen test mules in diverse terrains of Leh as well. Recently photos of a 2022 Scorpio test mule emerged on the internet that showed the top view of the SUV. And it looks like Mahindra might include a panoramic sunroof as an option for the higher variants. From the photos, we can see a larger cut for the sunroof, and hence our narrative.

Changes We Expect In The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra has not yet announced or released any official teaser nor any images of the Scorpio. But we do have some information from the multiple spy shots we have received to date. The front fascia will most likely be completely new. We also understand that Mahindra will use a multi-slatted radiator grille similar to what we see in the XUV700. The headlight unit seems to have a dual-beam projector LED. Other visible changes include an updated muscular bumper with new fog lamp housings.

The overall silhouette of the SUV remains boxy, which is a trademark of the Scorpio nameplate. To further enhance the SUV outlook, Mahindra seems to make use of bulging wheel arches and roof rails. In the rear end, Scorpio retains its flat design language, but some new additions make the SUV look much fresher. Other key highlights we know so far are a shark-fin antenna, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a side step for easier egress and ingress.

In the interiors as well, we will see major changes in the upcoming model. The third row, for the first time, will have front-facing seats. And we assume Mahindra also to include a 5-seat configuration. In terms of engine, Mahindra will equip the same power units as with the Thar and XUV700. These are a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit. But we expect Mahindra to tune the engine to a different stage when compared to its siblings. The gearbox options are likely to come in the form of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.
