Kinetic E Luna new model – Swappable battery incoming?

The E Luna was launched in India in 2024 with a lot of hopes for the rural market. However, the e-moped has been doing minimal sales since then. One possible reason behind it can be the small battery and less range.

However, the company has homologated a new E Luna model or possibly a new variant, which supposedly solves the range issue. The design patent image shows a bigger battery compartment between the handlebar and the seat.

This could mean two things: either the battery case is swappable or the battery size has grown. In both cases, the riding range will increase more than the current range of claimed 110 km.

Apart from the battery compartment design, the rest of the moped looks completely unaltered. This further clarifies the fact that it is mostly going to be a long-range version of the e-moped.

The current E Luna is equipped with a 2 kWh battery pack, which allows it to reach a top speed of 50 km/h. With the new battery option, we do not think that its performance will increase, albeit the range will.

The current E Luna is available from Rs 69,990 (ex-showroom, New Delhi), for the X2 variant.

Our verdict

The new iteration of the iconic moniker of E Luna will expectedly change the game for the company. While the e-moped looks promising on paper, its low-range and old-school design is polarising for the new buyers.
