Hyundai in the past revealed the 2022 Hyundai Tucson in the international market. Now, the most important score on the premium SUV is out. According to the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson has received the 2021 Top Safety Pick + award in the international market. The car has been awarded TSP+ (Top Safety Pick+) in the United States as the small SUV features high scores in crash tests and safety features, including LED lights.
2022 Hyundai Tucson Safety
The IIHS conducted the front small overlap test on the 2022 Hyundai Tucson, which resulted in a good score on both driver and passenger sides. The moderate overlap front, roof strength, side, seats and head restraints also performed well in the crash test. In the crash avoidance and mitigation test, the 2022 Tucson performed well with a Good score on the Headlights and Front Crash Prevention in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian. The SUV also comes with a child seat anchorage system, and the ease of use of the latch system gets an Acceptable score.
Crash Test Results
In the frontal crash test verification, Tucson got a Good score on the structure and safety cage as well as driver injury measures. The driver restraints and dummy kinematics also get a Good score, leading to a Good overall rating. The roof strength of the SUV was also tested with a curb weight of 3,474 lbs and was able to exert a peak force of 17,527 lbs giving it a 5.05 Strength-to-weight ratio. The Hyundai Tucson also comes with optional Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. The vehicle avoided a collision in both the 12 mph IIHS test and 25 mph IIHS test.
Besides the 2022 Hyundai Tucson, IIHS has also awarded the Hyundai Palisade and Nexo with TSP+ awards. Also, the 2021 Hyundai Tucson gets the TSP (Top Safety Pick) award. The 2021 and 2022 lineup includes 14 Hyundai and Genesis cars that have received the TSP and TSP+ awards from IIHS.
