New-Gen BMW M3 Sedan & M4 Coupé revealed, launch in March 2021

BMW has unveiled the brand’s latest generation of high-performance cars in its mid-size sedan line-up. The all-new 2021 BMW M3 Sedan and M3 Competition Sedan along with the BMW M4 Coupé and the M4 Competition Coupé, bringing together a combination of track-optimisation and everyday usability. The brand also announced that the BMW M3 Sedan & the M4 Coupé are slated for their market launch in March 2021 followed by their respective Competition model iterations in Summer 2021. 

The BMW M3 Sedan & M4 Coupé are powered by a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder motor with indirect charge air cooling system that produces 480 Hp of power and 580 Nm of torque matched to a six-speed manual gearbox with the option of an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic in the Competition models. 

 

The unit fitted in the Competition models churns out 510 Hp of power with the engine’s red line arriving at 7,200 rpm and 650 Nm of torque between 2,750 and 5,500 rpm. The new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M4 Coupé take 4.2 seconds for the car to reach 100 kmph from a standstill and the Competition models can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 3.9 seconds. 

The powertrain features BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology with two mono-scroll turbochargers, VALVETRONIC fully variable valve timing, Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing high precision fuel injection system with 350 bar (5000 psi approx.) pressure, to put things into perspective an average car tyre pressure is around 30 psi. 

The M models also get a bespoke cooling system with a central cooling module along with two remote high-temperature radiators in the wheel arches. The Competition model also gets an additional engine oil cooler and separate transmission oil cooler. The car also comes with a model-specific exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps for the ultimate aural pleasure. 

In terms of design and styling, the 2021 M3 & M4 comes with an all new aggressive & imposing grille with horizontal vent blades which is bound to polarise BMW enthusiasts. The vertical grille neatly integrates with the bonnet lines and the geometric front apron with side splitters, 18-inch front and 19-inch rear light alloy wheels, aggressive rear elements that reverberate the front, boot integrated spoiler, quad tipped exhaust and bold diffusers. 

On the inside, the M3 Sedan and the M4 Coupé comes with a 5 seats & 4 seat layout respectively, a multi-layered dashboard, sharp line on the fascia, BMW Live Cockpit Professional, fully digital instruments cluster, a central infotainment system, illuminated M model badge on the seats and optional ventilated seats. 

The high-performance cars are also offered with M Race Track Package available for the first time which reduces the vehicle weight by around 25 kilograms. The track package includes M Carbon ceramic brakes, special M light-alloy wheels and M Carbon bucket seats.
