New 8th Gen Toyota Camry begins testing in India

Written by Parichay Malvankar

The Toyota Camry sold in India, the Camry Hybrid to be precise has been here for a long time. It got a makeover a few months back, but that didn’t really change to much on the car. Now, the all-new 8th generation Toyota Camry has started testing in India, hinting at a launch in the coming months. We can expect that the new Camry can be launched sometime in early 2019.

This car is based on the new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform and sports a completely different design DNA. From the plain vanilla styling, the 2018-19 Camry for India will look sportier than ever. A V-shaped grille, sporty bumpers, LED lighting all around, snazzy alloy wheels, bold crease lines will make it appeal to a completely new buyer set.

Most definitely, this will also be sold in India with a hybrid motor.

Expect the new Camry in India to be powered by a 2.5L gasoline, 4-cylinder motor coupled to a electric motor. Power could be in the range of 170 horses and matched to an 8-speed eCVT gearbox.

The Camry is the perfect car in the segment. It rivals the likes of Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat & Skoda Superb. But the space and reliability along with the technology that the Camry offers is unmatched.
