Indian Chieftain MY25: The Bagger Legend Returns with More Muscle and Tech
Indian Motorcycle has officially launched the Model Year 2025 Chieftain Series in India, priced from INR 37.11 lakh (ex-showroom). Known for its commanding road presence and long-haul comfort, the Chieftain continues to be a flagship in the American brand’s heavyweight touring lineup.
The MY25 range includes four variants:
- Chieftain Dark Horse
- Chieftain Limited
- Chieftain PowerPlus Dark Horse
- Chieftain PowerPlus Limited
Each variant offers a unique blend of heritage styling, modern tech, and touring capability, catering to both traditionalists and performance-focused riders.
Engine Options: Thunderstroke or PowerPlus
The Chieftain Series offers two distinct engine choices:
- Thunderstroke 116 (1,890cc air-cooled V-twin)
- Output: 171 Nm at 3,000 rpm
- Available on Dark Horse and Limited variants
- PowerPlus (1,834cc liquid-cooled V-twin)
- Output: 181.4 Nm at 3,800 rpm
- Available on PowerPlus Dark Horse and PowerPlus Limited
Both engines are paired with a 6-speed gearbox and feature ride-by-wire throttle, cruise control, and three ride modes—Tour, Standard, and Sport.
Design and Touring Features
The Chieftain’s signature fork-mounted fairing, hard saddlebags, and low-slung stance remain intact. Key features across the range include:
- 7-inch touchscreen with Ride Command+
- Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connectivity
- Full LED lighting
- Remote-locking saddlebags
- Adjustable windscreen
- Premium touring seat and floorboards
The PowerPlus variants also get cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, and integrated audio systems with 100W speakers.

The MY25 Chieftain Series is now available at Indian Motorcycle dealerships across Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh. Customers can also explore a wide range of genuine accessories to personalise their ride.
