Indian Motorcycle, America’s oldest motorcycle brand, has officially launched the Model Year 2025 Chief line-up in India. Priced from INR 23.52 lakh (ex-showroom), the Chief remains the most accessible heavyweight cruiser in the brand’s portfolio.

The MY25 Chief range includes six variants, each blending classic American styling with modern tech and performance. These bikes are now available across Indian Motorcycle dealerships in cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh.

Powertrain and performance

All Chief variants are powered by the 1,890cc air-cooled Thunderstroke 116 V-twin engine, which produces a hefty 156 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and delivers a deep, throaty exhaust note that’s signature to the brand.

Despite its old-school charm, the Chief packs modern features like:

  • Ride-by-wire throttle
  • Three ride modes (Tour, Standard, Sport)
  • Cruise control
  • Keyless ignition

Design and features

The Chief line-up includes models like the Chief Bobber Dark Horse, Chief Dark Horse, and Sport Chief. Each variant carries a distinct personality:

  • The Bobber gets chunky tyres, wire-spoke wheels, and a solo seat.
  • The Sport Chief features inverted forks, dual-disc Brembo brakes, and a quarter fairing for a more aggressive stance.

All variants come with a 4-inch touchscreen powered by Ride Command, offering turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and vehicle telemetry.

Positioning and rivals

With a starting price of INR 23.52 lakh, the Chief undercuts rivals like the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy and BMW R 18, while offering a broader range of variants.

Indian Motorcycle has also confirmed that the Scout series pricing will be announced soon, further expanding its reach in the premium cruiser segment.
