Jeep has launched the MY23 Compass in India. The main highlight of the SUV is the new 2WD diesel automatic variant. The updated compass is available from a starting price of INR 20.49 lakh while the 2WD AT starts from INR 23.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
What’s new in the MY23 Jeep Compass?
The new Jeep Compass is available in five variants – Sport, Longitude, Longitude+, Limited and the top-end S. Jeep is offering the Sport trim with only the manual gearbox option.
The Longitude is available in both manual and automatic options. This means, interested customers can not get the automatic 2WD option from this trim.
Jeep has equipped the Longitude+ variety with features like a panoramic sunroof, wireless charger and more. Also new is the new Black Shark Edition on the Jeep Compass Limited that gets a new red and black colour on the outside and an all-black theme on the inside. The wheels are finished in black while there are Ignite Red highlights all over the car.
Compass Model S remains the highest-spec model in the SUV line-up. It comes with both 2WD and 4WD in both automatic and manual options. Jeep has offered new alloy wheels, along with an updated chrome grille that is available on the Limited and the Model S trims.
Powertrain of the Jeep Compass
The Jeep Compass comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine. This MultiJet II unit makes 170 HP and 350 Nm of torque. The diesel also comes with a 6-speed manual as standard. Additionally, customers can opt for a 9-speed torque converter automatic. The diesel automatic has a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 16.2kpl.
With the Compass petrol no longer being offered, customers might have faced a void in the 2WD automatic variants, which could have prompted the company to launch a diesel 2WD AT model.
