MY23 Hyundai i20 facelift starts road testing in India

Looks like Hyundai is gearing up to launch the facelifted i20 in India. Spy images of the MY23 Hyundai i20 have surfaced online. It appears that the Korean carmaker is road testing the car.

What’s new in the MY23 Hyundai i20 facelift?

The Hyundai i20 has been a very popular car in the Indian market. Currently it is in its third generation. Earlier, the car was spotted in Europe. Now, the car is seen on Indian roads, which means that Hyundai could be testing India-specific changes.

The spy images reveal a new design alloy. Apart from that, the side profile remains the same. At the front and back, we can expect Hyundai to offer slightly revised changes. The front bumper could get an all-new design while the grille could be finished in gloss black. The rear bumper could get minor changes with addition of the gloss black elements along with a silver diffuser.

On the inside, Hyundai could offer new features as well. The carmaker could offer a new 10.25-inch instrument cluster along with a10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. We can also expect a factory fitted dash cam as seen on new Hyundai cars.

Powertrain options of the MY23 Hyundai i20 facelift

The updated Hyundai i20 is likely to carry the same engine forwards. These include a 1.2-litre NA petrol good for 82 BHP and 115 Nm and a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol which churns out 118 BHP and 172 Nm. Transmission options could include a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.

In other new, Hyundai is gearing up to launch the new small SUV. The Hyundai Exter is set to launch on July 10. Until then, Hyundai has been teasing new details about the upcoming Tata Punch rival. So far, the Korean carmaker has showcased the design of the small SUV along with few of the features.
