MY23 Hyundai Grand i10 Nios facelift spotted testing

Written by Kanad Kalasur

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is expected to soon get a makeover. The facelift version’s test mule was first spotted in South Korea. Now, another test mule has been spotted near the company plant in Chennai.

Hyundai launched the Grand i10 Nios back in August 2019. The model was a replacement for the Grand i10, but Hyundai continued selling it alongside it. Hyundai discontinued the diesel variants of the Grand i10 and made it only available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine. Once Grand i10 Nios sales picked up, Hyundai pulled the plug on the Grand i10 in January 2021.

What’s new in the 2023 Hyundai Grand i20 Nios

Both Indan-spec and export-spec cars have been spotted testing outside the Korean carmaker’s Chennai plant. Despite the camouflage, some details of the car can be seen. We can see new quad-design LED DRLs while the car is using the same projector headlamps and fog lamp surrounds. There could also be some minor design changes to the front grille.

Looks like Hyundai has equipped new alloy wheels on the car. Further, the light blue colour also appears to be a new offering. Currently, the Grand i10 Nios is offered in Fiery Red, Aqua Teal, White, Silver and Grey.

On the inside, the car could get a revised dashboard with a new instrument cluster, refreshed interior upholstery and overall new design elements. There could also be a larger touch-screen infotainment system with the car.

Powertrain of the new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios

The diesel engine would no longer be offered with the car. There will be choice of 1.2-litre naturally aspirated motor and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol. Choice of transmission options could include 5-speed manual, 5-speed AMT or a dual clutch transmission. Hyundai will also launch CNG variants, though this could be offered after some time from the launch.

Competition for the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios

Hyundai i10 will head against the likes of the Maruti Swift, Tata Tigor, Tata Punch and the Renault Triber. The new i10 could be better able to tackle the segment leader – Maruti Swift.
