Written by Akhil Dalvi

One of India’s highest-selling automakers, Maruti Suzuki, has been spied driving the 2022 Baleno during an ad shoot in India. In November 2021, enthusiasts spotted the 2022 updated Baleno, during which images of the car appeared on social media. The spied car in the images is hard to spot due to poor lighting, but the visual changes are apparent.

The 2022 facelifted Baleno in the ad shoot sports a Nexa Blue colour scheme with chrome door handles. Additionally, the premium hatchback from the images also sports redesigned dual-tone alloy wheels and reworked LED taillights. Maruti Suzuki plans to launch the 2022 facelifted Baleno hatchback in India prior to the updated Vitara Brezza compact SUV.

Sources suggest that Maruti Suzuki has retained the same powertrain from the previous-gen Baleno with no mechanical changes. The 2022 facelifted Baleno will likely use the same 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with a 12V mild-hybrid option. The standard naturally-aspirated engine produces 83 PS and 113 Nm, whereas the mild-hybrid version produces 90 PS and 113 Nm. Once launched, the 2022 updated Baleno will compete with the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, and the Volkswagen Polo.
