Kia could be planning to launch the new iMT variant on the Seltos SUV in the Indian market. The Kia Seltos SUV, for the first time, is likely to be available in the Diesel iMT combination. Similar to Hyundai, the South Korean brand sells the Seltos SUV in the petrol iMT option. But now, Kia is planning to pair the iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) with the diesel engine options as well. In addition to this, the brand will also be launching a new silver colour option as well as a new blue colour on the SUV.
Kia Seltos SUV – Diesel iMT Option
The Kia Seltos SUV comes with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 115 Hp of power. The engine is now likely to be paired to a new 6-speed iMT clutchless manual gearbox. With this, the 1.5-litre oil motor will come with three transmission options. A 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic and the 6-speed iMT. The iMT gearbox option will only be available on the mid-spec HTK Plus variant. In addition to this, the brand is also likely to upgrade the suspension on the Kia Seltos.
Kia Seltos SUV – Upgraded Features
The Kia Seltos SUV is also likely to come with a range of upgraded features that include standard safety features. The brand is likely to offer safety features such as side airbags, ESC, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) and rear disc brakes as standard across all variants. Higher-spec models are likely to come with Traction/Drive modes and paddle shifters as well as curtain airbags for enhanced safety. Also, all variants are likely to come with dual front and front side airbags as standard, along with rear disc brakes to improve overall safety.
Kia Seltos SUV – Competition and Price
The Kia Seltos SUV competes with the likes of MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks and Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. Sources report that the new Kia Seltos Diesel iMT will come with a price of INR 13.99 lakh ex-showroom. It is likely to be available only in a single variant upon launch.
