Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki has announced the launch of its 50th anniversary special editions of its Z650 and Z900 series. The brand has been teasing the 50th-anniversary special editions for a while now, which started back in 1972. Kawasaki has introduced the special editions of the Z650, Z650RS, Z900, and Z900RS for the UK market along with prices.

Kawasaki has utilized a brand new and striking Firecracker Red paint scheme for all the Z series bikes. The Z650RS and the Z900RS share a similar retro look with exclusive Gold-coloured wheels and a gloss black frame. Additionally, the Z650RS and Z900RS also feature a commemorative “Z 50th” logo on the top of the fuel tank. Kawasaki states that it used a special painting process to create the candy color found on the tank and bodywork. Other details of the Z650RS and Z900 RS include the special seat and an accessory rear grab bar.
Meanwhile, the Z650 and Z900 feature the same Firecracker Red color scheme with Red Wheels to commemorate the 50th anniversary. The two bikes belong to the Super Naked category whereas the RS versions belong to the Modern Classic category. Both the Z650 and Z900 feature dark blue and silver highlights on the paint scheme with gold-finished Kawasaki logos. Additionally, the bikes also feature a commemorative “Z 50th” logo on the front fender and a special textured leather seat.

Powering the Z650RS is a 650cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke Parallel Twin Motor that develops 68 PS and 64 Nm. Meanwhile, the Z900RS uses a 948cc, Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke In-Line Four motor that develops 111 Ps and 98.5 Nm. Kawasaki has ensured to pair the engine of both bikes to a 6-speed gearbox with a wet multi-disc clutch.
Both bikes feature the same 41mm, inverted front forks with preload adjustability and a Horizontal Back-link, rear monoshock suspension. In terms of braking, both the Z650RS and Z900RS feature dual, 300mm, front brake discs, and 17-inch wheels. However, the Z650 RS sports a 220mm rear brake disc whereas the Z900 RS sports a 250mm rear brake disc.
Meanwhile, the Z900 uses a 948cc, Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke In-Line Four motor that develops 125 PS and 98.6 Nm. However, the Z650 uses a 649cc, Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke Parallel Twin motor that develops 68 PS and 64 Nm. On the other hand, the Z900 and Z600 feature the same suspension and braking setup as their RS counterparts.
