Ather has announced a price hike for its range of scooters that currently includes the 450X and 450 Plus. Both the scooters will now retail with an increase in price by up to INR 5,500. Ather mentioned that the price in input cost has led them to take the decision. The exact amount will vary from state to state, depending upon the EV subsidies. To put things into perspective, for Mumbai, the revised price for Ather 450 Plus is INR 1.09 lakhs, meanwhile, for Ather 450X, it’s 1.29 lakhs.

When compared to its direct rival, the Ather 450X is costlier by INR 3,600 when compared with Ola S1. Meanwhile, the price difference between Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450 Plus is around INR 14,600, with Ather being the costlier option. The prices mentioned for comparison are for Mumbai only.

There is another key update for the Ather Dot portable charger. Previously, this was sold at INR 1, but now customers will have to pay INR 5,475 to get the same. With the price increase, Ather has not included any cosmetic or mechanical changes to the scooter.

Ather Energy Looking To Increase Production

With the growing interest in the electric scooter segment, the demand is also picking up pace. Ather Energy is looking to ramp up the production at its Hosur Plant. The increase in demand is also noticeable as most of the EV makers have posted positive sales growth. Ather Energy is one of the early entrants in this segment and knows the industry pretty well.

Along with Ather, there are a host of other EV makers that have made their mark. With many offerings in this segment, the competition is getting very tough. And this competition will bring the best out of all the EV makers, thus taking down the cost. Customers are the definite winner in this case, who now have a plethora of options to choose from.
