MY 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX launched in India at INR 10.79 lakh

Kawasaki has launched the Model Year 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX in India at the price of INR 10.79 lakh ex-showroom offered in two colour variants – Emerald Blazed Green/Metallic Carbon Gray/Metallic Graphite Gray and Metallic Graphite Gray/Metallic Diablo Black. The new Ninja 1000 SX is in its fourth-generation succeeding the Ninja 1000 and features styling tweaks, new equipment, updated engine as well as an updated electronics package. The new Ninja 1000 SX also demands INR 50,000 premium over the predecessor which was priced at INR 10.29 lakh ex-showroom. 

On the exterior, the MY 2021 Ninja 1000 SX features all-LED lighting, an aerodynamic nose, more adjustability on the windscreen with four adjustable points, adjustable by hand, instead of three as seen on the predecessor, design tweaks to the bodywork, ergonomically redesigned seats for long-distance touring and the most significant change is in the exhaust system which is now a single-sided four-into-one unit instead of the quad-tipped exhaust on the predecessor. 

The MY2021 Ninja 1000 SX is powered by the same 1,043cc in-line, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 16-valve DOHC engine updated to BS6 emissions compliance along with updated Electronic Throttle Valves that enable the addition of Electronic Cruise Control, new cam profiles, a secondary balancer on the engine to reduce vibrations, redesigned air intakes etc. The updated engine retains its output from the predecessor and develops 142 Ps of power and 111 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed return type gearbox. 

The Ninja 1000 SX also features an updated electronics package that includes a 4.3-inch all-digital TFT colour instrumentation with smartphone connectivity via Rideology The App, Integrated Riding Modes – Sport, Road, Rain or a custom setting (Rider), KCMF (Kawasaki Cornering Management Function), KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System), KQS (Kawasaki Quick shifter). 

On the mechanical front, the MY2021 Ninja 1000 SX features an aluminium twin-tube frame that rides on 41mm upside-down fork with compression & rebound damping and spring preload adjustability on the front, horizontal back-link gas-charged rear shock absorber with rebound damping and spring preload adjustability, 300mm twin semi-floating discs with dual opposed 4-piston callipers on the front and a 250mm single disc on the rear with a single-piston calliper.
