MV Agusta working on new 500cc, Adventure & Electric motorcycles

Varese-headquartered premium motorcycling brand MV Agusta is planning to introduce a new crop of motorcycles which includes motorcycle powered by electric powertrains. A media report suggests that the brand could be working on multiple models which are likley to be introduced in the future and include Adventure Class motorcycles and 500cc motorcycle in the middle-weight segment. Apart from the new offensive line-up the brand is also expected to revamp its 950 platform and upgrade the 800cc line-up to BS6 emission-standards. 

MV Agusta is also reported to be developing a 500cc platform that will emphasise the adventure class. Sources also believe that the small adventure class motorcycle will also come in a larger 1000cc iteration. The next adventure range is also expected to be announced as soon as the next 3 – 4 months. 

The brand is also planning to replace the current F4 which is being reported to be still on the drawing board as the brand is channeling more efforts to the development of electric propulsion. Though the plans for the electric propulsion motorcycle has been delayed due to the COVID-19 restrictions, in the next 2 – 3 years MV Agusta plans to bring EV technology and start the brand’s journey towards urban commuter segment and the electric molility segment. In the beginning the brand is likley to produce electrified high-performance bicycles. 

This year the brand not only launched a number of motorycles such as the new 2020 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR SCS that was made available in the recent past, powered by a 798cc in-line, three-cylinder liquid-cooled 4-stroke, 12-valve DOHC motor that churns out 140 Hp of power and 87 Nm of torque matched to a cassette 6-speed gearbox. The Brutale 800 RR SCS features the Smart Clutch System works by automatically disengaging the clutch when the motorcycles roll into a stop and engages again as soon as the rider rolls-on the throttle. The rider can also override the system and take full control over the motorcycle at anytime. 

Apart from the SCS equipped Brutale 800 the brand also made ties with QJ Motor to expand distribution of MV Agusta motorcycle in China and joined hands with Slovenian performance exhaust manufacturer Akrapovič, to equip the brand’s select line-up with Akrapovič exhausts that not only magnify the motorcycle’s style but also its aural performance.
