Morris Garages sets up 10 DC fast chargers at dealerships

Written by Parichay Malvankar

MG Motor India has started to install fast chargers for their upcoming electric SUV, the ZS EV. A total of 10 DC fast chargers have been set up at MG dealerships in India, and this will allow for the ZS EV to achieve a 0-80% charge in 50 minutes. The MG ZS EV bookings are open for INR 50,000 and will be launched officially in the coming weeks. This is the first electric car by MG here in India, and it is their 2nd product after the successful introduction of the Hector SUV. The DC fast chargers will be available 24×7, helping owners to drive around at their own wish and will.

Apart from these high capacity fast chargers which will make life easy for customers of the ZS EV, the brand will also install AC chargers at the customers home / parking which will allow for a full charge in 6-8 hours. The 50 kW DC fast chargers will allow customers driving between cities (with dealerships having this setup) not to worry about the range from the battery pack. MG claims that the ZS EV can do 340 km on a full charge, which should be sufficient for the urban car buyer commuting to office and using it for leisure on the weekends.

MG Motor India will also provide each customer with a on-board cable to charge their ZS EV from an 15 amp charging point, but this will take a very long time for full charge. The battery pack is IP67 rated, so it is water and dust resistant.

The MG ZS EV is surely a practical solution for the now developing EV sector in India. With 340 km range, KERS selection, driving modes, and space for 5; this electric SUV should find a reasonable number of buyers. Also thanks to the conventional SUV styling, it does not look quirky and should please the mass market.
