More than 3 lakh BS6 two-wheelers by Honda in India

Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India PVT LTD (HMSIL) has announced that the brand has sold more than 3 lakh BS6 compliant units and the company’s production has completely transitioned into BS6. Honda’s BS6 compliant line-up comprises of the following models:-

  • Activa 6G
  • Activa 125 BS6
  • Dio BS6
  • SP 125
  • Shine 125

The new BS6 compliant engines feature new technologies like Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) which integrates ACG (AC Generator) starter motor, reduced friction in the moving parts of the engine and a Programmed Fuel Injection system (PGM-Fi). The following scooters and motorcycles now come with these new technologies along with a BS6 emission compliant engine. The stringent BS6 emission norms will be enforced from 1st April 2020. Let us take a look at the key features and engine specifications of the above mentioned BS6 vehicles.

The Activa 6G is powered by a BS6 compliant 110cc single-cylinder air/fan-cooled SI engine that produces 7.8 ps of power and 8.79 Nm of torque mated to a CVT automatic transmission. The new Activa 6G features PGM-Fi, World’s first enhanced Smart Tumble Technology (eSTT), ACG starter motor telescopic front suspension, 3-step adjustable rear suspension, integrated dual function switch, external fuel lid, malfunction light, engine start-stop switch, passing switch, LED headlamp, a longer wheelbase and increased floor space. 

 The Activa 125 BS6 is powered by a 124cc single-cylinder air/fan-cooled SI engine that makes 8.29 ps of power and 10.3 Nm of torque coupled to an automatic transmission. The Activa 125 BS6 features PGM-Fi, Idling Stop System, Side Stand Indicator with Engine Inhibitor, digital analogue meter, front glove box integrated dual function switch and external fuel lid etc.

The SP 125 BS6 is powered by a 124cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 10.8 ps of power and 10.9 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox. The SP 125 motorcycle comes with a PGM-Fi system and features a full digital meter with Eco Indicator, Gear Position Indicator, distance to empty, average fuel efficiency, real-time fuel efficiency and LED headlamp, Integrated headlamp beam/Passing switch, Engine Start/Stop switch etc.

The new 2020 Dio is powered by a 109.51cc single-cylinder air/fan-cooled SI engine that generates 7.76 ps of power and 9 Nm of torque coupled to an automatic gearbox. The 2020 Dio features full digital meter, malfunction light, side stand indicator with Engine inhibitor, engine start/stop switch, passing switch, integrated dual function switch, external fuel lid, telescopic front suspension, 3-step adjustable rear suspension, front pocket storage option, LED headlamp etc. 

The Shine BS6 is powered by a 124cc single-cylinder air-cooled SI engine that produces 10.7 ps of power and 11 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed transmission. The Shine BS6 includes 4 new features – Engine Start/Stop Switch, 5-Speed Transmission, Integrated Headlamp beam and passing switch. 

With the new eSP technology, the Honda claims that the Shine BS6 is 14% more fuel-efficient, the SP 125 BS6 is 16% more fuel-efficient and the Activa 6G now returns 13% more mileage. All the 5 scooters and motorcycles are also offered with a 6-year warranty (3 years standard + 3 years optional extended warranty).
