Written by AnantaSaranNayak

The 2nd Gen Honda Amaze has crossed the milestone of 2 lakh units. Honda Cars India Ltd. confirmed that the updated sedan that made its debut in May 2018, has been the first choice of over 2 lakh owners. Ever since Amaze first made its entry to India back in April 2013, the nameplate has been quite successful. All in all, accounting for both the 1st generation and 2nd generation model, Honda has sold over 4.6 lakh units of these. Amaze shares a localization level of more than 95 per cent, thus reflecting perfectly with the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

What Makes Amaze So Much Popular?

In the compact sedan segment, Amaze remains one of the top choices of customers. The brand value of Honda helps to garner sales in the 2nd and 3rd tier cities. Honda mentioned that Amaze does share strong popularity in these regions. This is evident from the fact that more than 68 per cent of sales come from these regions. Customers these days are more than willing to opt for automatics over manuals. And hence the CVT gearbox of Amaze contributes to around 20 per cent sales.

Sedans offer a sense of a bigger car when compared to their hatchback counterparts. And hence first-time customers are more inclined to get a compact sedan over hatchbacks. Honda, too confirmed that more than 40 per cent of its owners are first time buyers. Customers also get the flexibility to choose from two engine options in the form of a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and a 1.5-L i-DTEC engine. Rear seat experience is one of the main USPs of Amaze. The seats are so comfortable and offer adequate space when compared to its rivals.

Price Details

Honda has put on a very competitive price for Amaze, which is INR 6.32 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the top-spec VX trim with the CVT gearbox retails at an ex-showroom price of INR 9.05 lakh (ex-showroom). There are a total of 3 trims on sale, namely, E, S and VX. And hence a total of 5 variants are available, 3 for manual and 2 for automatic CVT.
