More power for the Splendor Pro Classic

More power for the Splendor Pro Classic

The cheapest Cafe Racer styled motorcycle in the world, the Hero MotoCorp Splendor Pro Classic is priced at Rs. 53,900 (on-road Delhi). The highest selling motorcycle in the world now gets a different body style to attract a wider audience, probably those looking for more flare at a lesser value.

The Splendor Pro Classic is powered by the same 97.2cc, single-cylinder petrol motor mated to a 4-speed gearbox. However, it produces slightly more power and torque figures. On the cafe racer, the peak power has gone up to 8.36 PS from 7.8 PS and torque has gone up marginally from 8.04 Nm to 8.05 Nm. The regular Splendor and the Pro Classic have the same weight, which should result in brisker performance on the cafe racer variant given the bump in power.

Typical of cafe racers, the Splendor Pro Classic sports a single seat, chrome round rear view mirrors, clip-on like handlebar, round headlamp and tail lamp etc. Time will tell how successful this move proves out to be for Hero, and if people chose form over function in this value conscious segment.
