Tata Sierra SUV mid-spec variant details

Just after a few days of the first-ever spy shots of Sierra surfacing online, the mid-spec variant of the SUV has been spotted yet again in Pune. The completely camouflaged SUV test mule is seen with lower rim size wheels and a potentially downsized body design.

So, what’s special about it? Firstly, the possibility is that it is an ICE powertrain. Moreover, the mid-spec version doubt is confirmed due to the downsized wheels it has. Recently, a test mule was spotted with big offset rims and tyres; this test mule is very different from it.

Moving on, the almost complete covered design shows the iconic rear quarter window style that has been a trademark of Sierra for decades. Moreover, the front fascia appears to be majorly identical to the model displayed at the Auto Expo 2025 in January.

The Sierra will be a mid-size SUV that will be slotted above the Harrier and below the Safari. Hence, it will be longer than the 4-metre mark and it will offer a spacious cabin, as expected.

On the inside, we assume it to be equipped with a four-spoke steering wheel and a unique dashboard design with a connected screen display. Moreover, the features list will include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, captain seats on the top-spec, wireless phone connectivity, electric seats, level 2 ADAS safety, and more.

Powering the Sierra will be the choice of a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. Additionally, an all-electric iteration of the Sierra will also debut shortly after the launch of the ICE model.

We expect the Sierra SUV to launch by the end of this year or early next year. Tata will initially introduce the ICE model, which will be later on followed by the launch of the EV model.

Our verdict

The Sierra moniker is an iconic name in Indian automotive history. The first-gen model was known for its unique design and luxury that it offered decades ago. Now, the latest-gen model will soon take over the legacy of Sierra with advanced technology and latest features.
