MG Windsor EV sales skyrocket, nearing 30,000-unit milestone

MG Motor India’s Windsor EV is proving to be a game-changer in the electric vehicle segment, with sales figures soaring in recent months. The Windsor EV now accounts for 65% of MG’s total sales, making it the company’s best-selling model and a serious challenger to Tata Motors in the EV space.

Rapid growth and market dominance

Since its launch in September 2024, the EV has consistently delivered strong sales numbers, averaging 3,000 to 4,000 units per month. MG Motor India recorded 6,304 units sold in May 2025, marking a 40% year-over-year growth compared to 4,510 units in May 2024.

The Windsor EV’s success is largely attributed to its aggressive pricing strategy, starting at INR 13.5 lakh (ex-showroom). MG also offers a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan, allowing buyers to purchase the car for INR 9.99 lakh, with a INR 3.5/km battery rental, making EV ownership more accessible.

New variants and feature upgrades

MG recently introduced Pro versions of the Windsor EV, featuring:

  • A larger 52.9 kWh battery pack, increasing the claimed range to 449 km.
  • Level-2 ADAS, enhancing safety with autonomous driving features.
  • Premium interior upgrades, including ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof.

Future outlook and expansion plans

MG Motor India expects Windsor EV sales to cross the 30,000-unit mark soon, further strengthening its foothold in the EV market. The company is also expanding its premium dealership network, introducing MG Select showrooms, which will showcase high-end models like the Cyberster electric sports car and MG 9 luxury MPV.
