MG Motor India is set to introduce advanced power-sharing technology in its upcoming Windsor PRO, making it one of the most versatile EVs in its segment. The Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) capabilities will allow owners to power external devices and transfer energy to other EVs, reinforcing its practicality for outdoor adventures and emergencies.
What is V2L and V2V technology?
The V2L feature enables the Windsor PRO to function as a portable power station, allowing users to charge laptops, run coffee machines, or power tools directly from the car’s battery. This is particularly useful for camping trips, work sites, and off-grid scenarios.
Meanwhile, V2V technology lets the new EV share energy with other compatible EVs, making it possible to top up another vehicle’s battery in case of emergencies.
Battery and performance upgrades
The Windsor PRO will be equipped with a larger 50.6 kWh battery, replacing the 38 kWh unit found in the standard Windsor EV. This upgrade extends the claimed range to 460 km, making it a more practical choice for long-distance travel.
Despite the bigger battery, the powertrain remains unchanged, with the front-wheel-drive PMS motor producing 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque.
Premium features and safety enhancements
MG is also introducing ADAS Level 2, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning. The Windsor PRO will also feature a powered tailgate, refreshed alloy wheels, and a new dual-tone interior theme.
Market position and pricing
The Windsor PRO will sit above the standard Windsor EV, which is priced between INR 14 lakh and INR 16 lakh (ex-showroom). The PRO variant is expected to start at INR 17 lakh, reflecting its larger battery and added features.
