MG Windsor EV sales skyrocketing – why is it popular?

MG India introduced the Windsor EV crossover back in October 2024. Its unique design and ultra-spacious cabin made a big impact on EV buyers who were considering rivals like the Tata Nexon.EV. Moving on to January 2025, the Windsor EV has set a new record by selling more than 3,000 units consecutively from October to Janaury.

But, why has the Windsor become so popular in a short time? The primary reason behind its immediate success is its super spacious cabin and unique crossover design that offers comfort and practicality. Additionally, MG has played smart by offering the car as either a whole or without a battery pack. The superbly innovative Baas pricing system where customers can pay as per the usage per kilometer, is a superb idea that has worked well for the company in India.

Moreover, MG cars are known for their top-notch features and safe build quality and the Windsor EV offers as well. The Windsor is available in three variants – Excite, Exclusive, and Essence. The price range of the crossover EV starts from Rs 13,99,800 (ex-showroom) and ends at Rs 15,88,800 (ex-showroom).

However, if customers opt for the Baas pricing, the range price tag drops to Rs 9,99,800, while the top-spec costs Rs 11,99,800 (ex-showroom). MG charges Rs 3.9/km for the Baas charging.

Mind you, the Windsor EV comes equipped with a 38 kWh battery pack that offers an ARAI-claimed range of up to 332 km. This battery pack coupled with an IP67-rated electric motor generates a peak power output of 134.14 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque.
