MG will launch Maxus D90 SUV in India by late-2020

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Spotted testing in India yet again, this is the Maxus D90 SUV from the SAIC group which will be launched by Morris Garages by the end of 2020. This SUV is expected to follow the ZS EV in India, and this would become the 3rd SUV / Crossover from the brand MG for India. The Maxus D90 will be a full-size 7-seater SUV to rival the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4 & Ford Endeavour. Be assured, MG will undercut the pricing of this SUV segment by a huge margin.

The Maxus D90 SUV is huge measuring over 5 metres in length, 1932mm in width, 1875mm in height and 2950mm in wheelbase. Although a 7-seater Hector is in the pipeline, the Maxus D90 will be much larger in scale, and will offer more room inside. Powering the Maxus D90 in India could be the same 2.0L diesel engine we see on the Hector matched to a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox. It is too early to speculate on engine details, but the state of tune could be different and on international soil, the Maxus D90 also comes with a 2.0L petrol motor which produces 224 HP of power and 360 Nm of torque. To make it a capable SUV and to match the segment standard, the maxus D90 will get 4×4 with 4-low range for off-roading along with multiple driving modes to tackle tricky terrain.

On the inside, the Maxus D90 will have a 7-seat layout with leather upholstery, full digital touchscreen infotainment with connected technology, large coloured MID, multiple AC vents for all rows, automatic climate control, electric driver seat, sunroof, etc. Features on the outside will include full LED illumination, snazzy diamond cut alloy wheels, big front grille, body cladding, roof rails, healthy dose of chrome, side step, etc.

We expect MG (Morris Garages) to start promotional activities for the launch of the D90 by mid-2020.
