MG Motor India’s focus on energy conservation and sustainability

MG Motor India has announced that the brand is taking steps towards saving the environment, energy conservation and sustainability. Furthermore, MG revealed that the company has become the world’s first automotive brand to use ULTRAX Degreaser. ULTRAX Degreaser is a liquid alkaline degreasing cleaner developed by PPG Asian Paints. The chemical pre-treatment launch has also coincidently aligned with the brand’s focus on making sustainable mobility greener.

Carbon Reduction

MG also revealed that thanks to the new ULTRAX Degreaser from PPG Asian Paints, the CO2 reduction will be around 787 tons/annum. In addition to this, MG Motor India also revealed that the company conserves energy through Low – Temperature Phosphate (VERSABOND) and High Throw Low Cure Cathodic Electro Coating Paint. This leads to a CO2 reduction of 325 tons/annum and approximately 388 tons/annum, respectively. Cumulatively, MG Motor India has a CO2 reduction of 1500 tons/annum.

Sustainability

MG Motor India has also partnered with CleanMax to use 4.85 MW of wind-solar power. Using the wind and solar sources of renewable energy, the company will conduct operations in the Halol manufacturing hub. Thus eliminating the use of 2 lakh MT of carbon dioxide in 15 years. MG’s other initiative called Enviro Wash promotes dry car washing. This encourages people to save up to 14 lakh litres of water per month. Furthermore, MG Motor India also joined hands with Attero to reuse and recycle Li-ion batteries of electric vehicles in India. Thanks to the collaboration with TES-AMM the brand also ensures environmentally sustainable and secured recycling of EV batteries in the country.

Electric Vehicles

MG recently launched the 2022 MG ZS EV in the Indian market. The electric vehicle comes with a price tag of INR 21,99,800 ex-showroom. The top-end Exclusive variant comes with a price tag of INR 25,88,000 ex-showroom. MG reveals that ZS EV customers have saved approximately 70 lakh kgs of CO2 which is equivalent to planting 42,000 trees.
