MG Motor India to adopt Wind Solar Hybrid energy for manufacturing

Written by Akhil Dalvi

Chinese-owned British Manufacturer MG Motor India has announced its partnership with Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd (CleanMax). As one of Asia’s most trusted sustainability partners, CleanMax has agreed to supply 4.85 MW of wind-solar hybrid power. MG Motor India will then use this wind-solar hybrid power to run its manufacturing facility located in Halol, Gujarat. With this partnership, MG will reduce the spread of CO2 by approximately 2 lakh MT in the next 15 years.

Environment Focussed Plans for the Future

Complimenting the partnership is the fact that CleanMax shares its vision with MG’s commitment to achieving a sustainable future. By launching the ZS EV SUV, MG has been at the forefront of promoting EV adoption in India. With the SUV launched under its ‘Change what you can’ initiative, MG Motor India has encouraged people to adopt zero-emission vehicles. The automaker has also stated that it intends to build a sustainable environment while lowering its energy costs.

CleanMax is also the first renewable energy company to set up a Wind Solar Hybrid Power Park in Gujarat. By selling clean energy to private consumers and corporations, CleanMax aims to expand itself to provide 150 MW by 2022. MG Motor India has also stated that it will start drawing power for its Halol facility in February 2022. Additionally, the automaker plans to reduce CO2 and to operate costs by drawing 50% of the power from its hybrid farm.

What is CleanMax?

Founded in 2011, CleanMax is Asia’s largest provider of solar and wind power to Corporates and Institutional clients. The company has successfully commissioned more than 600 projects for over 150 corporations with a 750+ MW operational capacity. Spread across countries like India, UAE, and Thailand, CleanMax takes its support from various institutional investors.

These include a US-based Fund manager called Augment Infrastructure and Macquarie-managed UK Climate Investments. CleanMax has created a specialization in developing solar and wind projects under its ‘Build Own Operate’ model. Under this model, the company provides solar power under long-term agreements, which ends up creating significant savings for end-users.
