When launched, a lot was being said about the new Hector SUV. Few took to social media to badge the Hector as a Chinese product just using the name of a British heritage brand. However, Morris Garages have given a fitting response with their sales figures. MG Motor India has managed to deliver 1,508 Hector SUVs in the first month since launch. These are retail figures and not dealer dispatches which other brands claim in their numbers. The Hector is badged as an Internet Car and was launched in India in July 2019.
Another positive story to add to MG Motor India is that the Hector is sold out for 2019. Such was the response for this 5-seater SUV, that Morris Garages has stopped accepting new customer bookings for this year. The brand is working on increasing the production, and will soon reopen bookings for the Hector.
In a bid to retain customers, MG is also informing customers who have booked the Hector about their delivery timelines, unlike other companies which just expect an endless waiting period. So far, MG Motor India has over 28,000 bookings for the Hector SUV. From September 2019, MG plans to ramp up the production to 3,000 units / month for the Hector.
The MG Hector has been launched in India at an introductory price tag ranging between INR 12.18 lakh – INR 16.88 lakh. At the moment, this is a 5-seater SUV but a 7-seater variant is expected to be launched in 2020. MG has hit the ball out of the park with aftersales support for peace of mind. The brand is claiming prepaid maintenance plans for the Hector starting from INR 8,000 for the first 3 years with the total cost of ownership being as low as INR 45 paise / km for petrol and INR 49 paise / km for diesel. MG Motor India is also offering an assured resale value of 60% for the hector should one decide to sell their car in 3 years under the ‘MG Shield’.
