MG Motors has announced the launch of the BS6 emission compliant variant of the MG Hector with the petrol engine in India. The MG Hector will see a price hike of INR 26,000 across all its petrol variants. At the time of its launch, the MG Hector came with an introductory price of INR 12.18 lakh ex-showroom, India which was later increased to INR 12.48 lakh ex-showroom, India. With the introduction of the new BS6 emission norms which will come to effect from 1st April 2020, the new entry-level model will be priced at INR 12.74 lakh ex-showroom, India.
The MG Hector is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque available in a manual gearbox as well as an automatic DCT (dual-clutch transmission). The technical specification and the power/torque figures are identical to the BS4 Hector on both the Petrol and the Petrol Mild Hybrid engines. The diesel engine variant has not been upgraded to BS6 standards yet and is expected to be upgraded soon as the deadline for the stringent emission norm close in.
The MG Hector’s features and hardware remain unchanged and the SUV features a chrome-accented grille, LED headlights, LED DRL, LED taillamps, floating LED indicators, shark-fin antenna, chrome-lined windows, machine-finished alloy wheels, etc on the outside while the interiors get a 10.4-inch vertically oriented infotainment system, 7-inch coloured MID, 8 ambient colour lighting, flat foldable second-row seats, rain-sensing wiper, powered tailgate, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, fatigue reminder setting, leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, etc.
In terms of safety, the MG Hector gets 6 Airbags, ABS+EBD, brake assist, electronic stability programme, hill hold control, electronic parking brakes, 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat anchoring, etc.
