Written by Nizam Shaikh

British brand MG, short for Morris Garages are going to launch their MG Hector SUV soon in India. The MG Hector was spotted testing in the open without any camouflage, which leads us to believe that MG plans to launch the Hector very soon. The Hector launch is expected around May 2019 and this car will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and the likes.

The car features a large grille on the front with chrome trim, a split type headlight setup with projector headlamps on the front apron and sleek LED daytime running lights just below the bonnet’s shutline. The centre of the grille houses a large MG logo. A lot of silver and chrome is used in the front fascia. LED integrated ORVMs can also be seen. The car is also fitted with silver alloy wheels. The two cars that were spotted were in Silver and Maroon body colour.

The MG hector will also feature the i-Smart infotainment system which is a 10.4″ touchscreen unit. An intelligent system with AI technology which allows it to be connected with 5G internet through its built in sim card, which allows it to stay connected with your car. Also, this will allow for OTA updates not just for the infotainment, but also for the car.

The MG Hector may be launched in India with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine producing 141 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque. And the diesel variant may have a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine producing 171 BHP of power and 350 Nm of torque. MG may introduce a petrol hybrid engine option, which will be unique to the segment.

MG has already unveiled the MG eZS, a pure electric SUV in the global market and this will be introduced in India in December this year.
