First revealed at the 2020 Auto Expo in India, the MG Hector Plus is getting ready for a market debut. Morris Garages has started production of this new version at their Halol plant and the Hector Plus will be available in showrooms starting from July 2020. Even with these tough times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, seems like the product launch plans for MG Motor India are on track. And that’s a good thing.

MG Motor India has also revealed that there will be a few key differentiating features between the Hector and Hector Plus such as captain seats in the 2nd row for optimum comfort, new 3-row seating configuration, all-new LED headlamps, new front grille, new front and rear bumpers, new LED tail lamps and new skid plate design. There will be some subtle changes to the interior upholstery as well on the Hector Plus to add to the wow factor. The Hector always had room to occupy more inside the cabin, and the new Hector Plus model will co-exist with the former. Just like the Hector, the Hector Plus will also come with OTA updates so that customers can get the latest firmware / software, new themes, new infotainment content without having to visit the dealer.

The new 2020 MG Hector Plus will carry forward the same engines which include a 1.5L turbo-petrol producing 143 PS of power with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a 2.0L turbodiesel motor producing 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque.

Following the new social distancing measures and ensuring safety of the staff working in the Halol plant, the brand has also set up captive vendor park in the vicinity for a smooth supply chain operation. The MG Motor India plant makes use of robotic spot welding, robotic roller hemming and other technologically advanced methods for car manufacturing. Even the paint shop uses a complete robotic application. MG Motor India is also the first in the industry to make use of touchscreen pads at the assembly work station to help workers avoid errors.

Expect the MG Hector Plus to have a price premium over the standard Hector by a minimum of INR 50,000.
