MG Gloster SUV price increased by INR 1 lakh, now starts at INR 29.98 lakh

MG Motor India announced that their latest entrant the Gloster premium SUV has bagged 2,000 bookings in the Indian market. The MG Gloster SUV was launched in the Indian market, about a month ago at the starting price of INR 28.98 lakh ex-showroom, India. At the time of its launch, the brand had announced that the introductory offer will last only up to the 31st October 2020 or for the first 2,000 bookings, whichever is earlier. Now both the parameters have expired and MG has now hiked the prices of the MG Gloster SUV. 

MG has now revealed that the Gloster’s entry-level trim the Super 7-seater 4X2 is now priced at INR 29.98 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. In the introductory period, the variant was priced at INR 28.98 lakh showing INR 1 lakh hike in the price. The Smart 6-seater 4X2 is now priced at INR 31.48 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. It was earlier priced at INR 30.98 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi showing an increase in price by INR 50,000. Both these trims are powered by a BS6 emission-compliant 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 163 PS of power and 375 Nm of torque paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission and a with a 4X2 driveline. 

The Gloster in the Sharp 7-seater 4X4 was priced at INR 33.68 lakh ex-showroom and is now priced at INR 33.98 lakh ex-showroom showing an increase of INR 30,000. The Gloster Sharp 6-seater variant with 4X4 was priced at INR 33.98 lakh ex-showroom, at the time of launch and now the price has been increased to INR 34.28 lakh ex-showroom a change of INR 30,000 to the ex-showroom cost. The top-of-the-line Savvy 6-seater 4X4 with ADAS Autonomous Level 1 technology has seen the lowest amount of hike. The trim was launched with a price tag of INR 35.38 lakh ex-showroom and now the price has been hiked to INR 35.58 lakh ex-showroom adding a difference of INR 20,000 on the ex-showroom price. 

The Sharp 7-seater, the Sharp 6-seater and the fully-loaded Savvy 6-seater are powered by a BS6 emission-compliant 2.0-litre four-cylinder Twin-Turbocharged diesel motor that makes 218 PS of power and 480 Nm of torque matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission and comes with a 4X4 driveline. The powertrain offers an on-demand 4-wheel-drivetrain with driving modes such as Rock, Sand, Mud, Snow and a Borg Warner Transfer Case with a separate rear differential locking system. 

The MG Gloster SUV measures 4985mm in length, 1926mm in width, 1867mm in height along with 2950mm of wheelbase. The large proportions of the Gloster allow the SUV to offer a  2+3+2, a seven-seat layout as well as 2+2+2, six-seat layout with captain seats. Also, the MG Gloster is available in four exterior colours – Agate Red, Metal Ash, Metal Black and Warm White. 

MG Motor India also announced their sales report which has registered the company’s highest-ever monthly sales for the MG Hector with sales of 3,625 units in October 2020, registering a growth of 50% against 2,410 units sold in September 2020. The brand’s fully-electric vehicle the MG ZS EV also garnered sales of 125 units in October 2020.
