MG Motor India is gearing up to launch the MG Gloster a luxury offering in the SUV segment that will rival major SUV players such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee in the Indian market. The SIAC-owned British brand has also released a teaser today revealing that the MG Gloster will be coming with advanced technologies and internet-connected features.

The brand revealed the MG Gloster at the Auto Expo 2020 in February but according to the teaser images on the brand’s official Indian website, the grille has changed from a horizontally slated one to a mesh grille. But now the SUV has been spied testing sans camouflage in India well before its launch in its production-ready avatar.

The spied MG Gloster can only be seen from the side and the model which looks like a production-ready version in a dark silver shade with large multi-spoke alloy wheels, black wheel arch claddings, chrome window beltline, silver roof rails, chrome gills on the front doors, integrated spoiler on the tailgate, wraparound headlamp and taillamps, silver footboard, chrome exhaust tips etc.

The 7-seater SUV is also likely to come with features such as LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights,  LED taillights, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with internet-connected features, digital instrumentation, multi-zone climate control, front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions, a gesture-controlled powered tailgate and panoramic sunroof etc.

The MG Gloster is expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces close to 220 PS of power and 480 Nm of torque matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission more details of which will be revealed closer to its launch.

In terms of size, the MG Gloster is essentially a badge-engineered version of the SAIC’s Maxus D90 SUV which measures in at 5005mm in length, 1932mm in width and 1875mm in height and comes with a wheelbase of 2950mm. To put things into perspective the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour measure 4,795mm and 4,903mm in length respectively.
