Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Interesting news coming out from the house of MG. The British carmaker has taken to its social media to tease the upcoming Gloster Black Storm Edition. The company has put out a teaser video that shows a dark silhouette of the SUV.

What Is The ‘Black Storm’ Edition?

We also see a ‘Black Storm’ badge positioned on the front fender. Even though the latest edition does give away a lot of details. But we expect the Black Storm model to come with a fair bit of styling updates and new features. The MG Gloster Black Storm version is most likely similar to what we see with the Dark Edition of Tata Motors. Thus we anticipate it to feature a black shade and some blacked-out elements on the exterior. We could see the all-black treatment extend up to the car’s alloy wheels. Meanwhile, we assume the Black Storm Edition could also feature some red accents on the sides.

MG could also offer a new interior theme and features such as new leather upholstery with this edition. In terms of pricing, we expect that the Black Storm will retail more than the standard model, which is available at an introductory price of INR 32.59 lakh (ex-showroom).

MG Gloster Black Storm Edition: Mechanical And Engine

MG has already updated the Gloster with a BS6 Phase II-compliant engine thus adhering to stricter emission norms. Powering the MG Gloster Black Storm Edition is the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, diesel engine. This is available in 2 states of tune: a turbo-diesel version and a twin-turbo unit. The 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine makes out 161 BHP of maximum power and 375 Nm of peak torque. Whereas the twin-turbo unit makes 215 BHP and 480Nm. For transmission, the SUV makes use of an 8-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels.

The Gloster is the brand’s flagship offering that locks its horns against the likes of the Jeep Meridian and the Toyota Fortuner. In the Indian market, it currently retails at a starting price of INR 32.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
