MG Hector service cost lower than Maruti Suzuki Swift?

MG Motor India has shared that the total cost of ownership of the brand’s popular SUV, the MG Hector is lower than mass market cars such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Swift, Hyundai i20, etc. MG claims that the Hector SUV’s servicing cost even after having driven for 90,000 km to more than 100,000 km is only between INR 5,000 to INR 8,000.

Service Cost

An MG Hector SUV with more than 90,000 km on the clock went in for the 7th preventive maintenance service and the company charged the customer approximately INR 7,300 for the service which includes all the spares, labour and taxes. According to the invoice of the customer, the MG Hector in the 7th preventive maintenance service the company replaced engine oil, engine oil filter, air filter, air-conditioning filter, the drain plug gasket etc. The labour charged to the customer is also relatively low at only about INR 1,800 including taxes.

The same car in its 8th preventive service, the billing is approximately INR 12,000 for the service but this time the company had also replaced the brake pads on the vehicle which alone cost around INR 4,000 with taxes. This means that a regular service for the MG Hector would only cost around INR 8,000 or even less in some cases making it one of the most affordable SUV in the segment in terms of the total cost of ownership. The MG Hector which was serviced by the dealership is the Sharp variant with the BS4 diesel engine and manual transmission.

Apart from the cost-effectiveness, the MG Hector also comes with features such as a 10.4-inch HD touchscreen infotainment screen which was the best-in-segment at the time of its debut in the Indian market. The SUV also comes with next-gen iSMART technology giving the customers Internet Connected features amplifying the SUVs safety. On the exterior, the MG Hector features the octagonal MG badge, geometric shape body contours, etc. The brand also upgraded the Hector SUV for 2021 and the new version comes with an all-new Bold Thermopressed Front Chrome Grille, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, dark rear tailgate garnish, gunmetal finish on the front and rear skid plates, front ventilated seats, wireless charging, auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror and Hinglish voice command.
